Movie Review: Captain America

    Title: Captain America

    Year Of Release: 2011

    Review Date: July 31, 2011

    Rating: PG-13

    Running time: 124 minutes

    Box Office Gross: $170,272,000

Site Rating: 7 out of 10 stars

"Captain America" starring Chris Evans and Tommy Lee Jones, was an entertaining film. I saw it on its opening weekend and enjoyed the movie. It was nice going to a movie theatre and not being accosted by some Hollywood weirdness on celluloid.

"Captain America" (Evans) is the marvel comic turned film, about a superhero of the same name, who possesses massive strength and speed. He starts off as a young man wanting to join the army, but is repeatedly rejected for being too small and sickly. An experiment turns him into a strong man.

Chris Evans and Richard Armitage in Captain America

Former MI5 actor, Richard Armitage, went from "Lucas North" to assassin "Heinz Kruger" successfully taking on the role of another baddie. Stanley Tucci delivered a good performance, as did Tommy Lee Jones as the film's best comic relief.

Sadly, my allergy medication kicked in near the end of the film and its main side effect, drowsiness, did as well. I briefly fell asleep in the theatre (sleeping like it was nobody's business) whilst clutching my bag for about 10-15 minutes.

I woke up to see actor Samuel L. Jackson on screen and thought the theatre had begun showing another film. I was not amused that I missed the ending. However, I hadn't. If you watch the film, you'll see what I mean.

U.S. General Stanley McChrystal Resigns

General Stanley McChrystal to U.S. President Barack Obama: you wimp!

U.S. President Barack Obama to General Stanley McChrystal: If I could fire you twice I would!

U.S. President Barack Obama asked General Stanley McChrystal to step down from his post, after incendiary comments he and his aides made in Rolling Stone magazine, painting the Commander-in-Chief and his administration as weak wimps, who lack competence.

    General Stanley McChrystal: uh oh!

The President was said to be "angry" at the embarrassing, derogatory remarks and subsequently forced the resignation. General David Patraeus will assume McChrystal's post. Last week, Patraeus had a bit of a turn and started passing out in the U.S. Congress, while Senator John McCain was questioning him.

U.S. General Stanley McChrystal Slams Obama

An aide of U.S. General Stanley McChrystal slammed the Obama Administration in a Rolling Stone article by stating he, "Took charge of the war by keeping his eye on the real enemy: the wimps in the White House." Ouch!

U.S. President Barack Obama and General Stanley McChrystal

Needless to say, Congressional Democrats are incensed. A flurry of statements were issued today, denouncing McChrystal's statements against the President.

Victoria Clarke to U.S. General Stanley McChrystal: Ooo, you're gonna get it!

McChrystal is quoted as saying he was "disappointed" after his first meeting with U.S. President Barack Obama, stating, "I found that time painful. I was selling an unsellable position." Is it just me or do these two have a problem with each other.

U.S. Gov Finds $1 Trillion In Minerals In Afghanistan

Former U.S. President George W. Bush

According to Yahoo News, the U.S. Geological Society, has found $1 trillion dollars in precious metals in the Middle Eastern country of Afghanistan. However, it is in an area controlled by the terrorist faction, the Taliban.

Many are stating this is the reason for the U.S. government's war in Afghanistan, much like many have attributed the war in Iraq, that was based on lies in the name of Weapons of Mass Destruction, only for millions of barrels of Iraqi oil to have gone missing under Bush and Halliburton.

Many have suspected for quite sometime that Afghanistan potentially held a fortune in natural minerals, such as gold and lithium. Now that it has been confirmed, people are wondering who will control it. This wealth should benefit the people of Afghanistan, to modernize their nation and educate their citizens, as it is their national property and heritage.

Human Rights Group Slams U.S. Gov Over Civilian Deaths In Yemen

    U.S. missile

A human rights group has slammed the U.S. government over a missile that killed 40 civilians in the country of Yemen. The tragic and horrible part of the conflict in the Middle East, that has the West fighting against terrorists in the region, is more civilians are dying than actual terror factions. No civilians should be dying at all, but all too frequently they are, in acts that are not justifiable. This is not acceptable collateral damage.

David Cameron Vows To Bring Troops Home From Afghanistan

    David Cameron and wife Samantha

David Cameron, the head of the British Conservative Party, seeks a withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan, if he is elected Prime Minister of Britain. The national elections are slated to take place Thursday, May 6, 2010.

Cameron has made his presence felt, in a race between incumbent, Gordon Brown and Liberal Democrat, Nick Clegg. Cameron has also offered sensible economic ideas, to help revamp Britain, during this terrible global economic crisis.

David Cameron looks to Afghan withdrawal

British troops would start coming home from Afghanistan during the next Parliament under a Conservative government, David Cameron has suggested.

In the party's clearest signal yet of a timetable for withdrawal, Mr Cameron rejected the idea of setting an "artificial deadline".

But he added: "We've been there already for eight or nine years. That's already a long time. We can't be there for another eight or nine years...

A Window Of Shame

Former U.S. President George W. Bush

In watching 60 minutes this past Sunday, one was given a glimpse into the Islamic "Narrative" espoused by Muslims the world over, believing the West is out to destroy their religion and Jihad is the correct response, which is wrong, regrettable and and tragic.

Former U.S. President George W. Bush was mentioned by Muslims in the interview, as one that made the Islamic world firmly believe, the West is out to destroy Islam, via the war in Iraq.
As a Christian, I clearly do not share the same religious beliefs as Muslims. However, I do not wish death and destruction upon Muslims.

The George W. Bush years did America and the West a great deal of damage that may never be repaired in this lifetime. It opened the institution that is the U.S. Presidency, to a great window of shame, it had never known before.
The Clinton years were marred by his infidelities and the accompanying untruths, the most notable, the Monica Lewinsky scandal. However, it did not destroy the stature and standing of the U.S. Presidency. His deeds were viewed as personal, moral failures within his marriage to former First Lady, Hillary Clinton.

Later, during the Bush years, Americans sported bumper stickers that stated, "When Clinton lied, nobody died." This is true, as it alluded to Bush's illegal war, he lied to the nation and world to wage, which cost many Muslim civilians and Western soldiers their lives.

Bush deliberately deceived the world about a terrible war, claiming it was to rid Iraq of dangerous Weapons of Mass Destruction, he knew no longer existed. The true intent of the war was to steal untold trillions in Iraq oil.

Bush later stated in a well publicized interview that he believed the oil in Iraq would pay for the cost of the war. However, that oil/money was not his to take.

Bush, former Vice President, Dick Cheney and advisor, Karl Rove, reduced the U.S. Presidency to common thievery, grand theft larceny and murder, to pillage the national heritage of the Iraqi people - oil.

The world was made less safe as well, as Muslims began to wage Jihad against the West and fight back against Western soldiers and civilians in acts of terrorism in other nations.

Thanks to Bush and co, what the world ended up with was the death of 1 million Muslim civilians in Iraq and surrounding areas, 10,000 U.S. and U.K. soldiers gone, hundreds of Western civilians (America, Britain and Spain) killed in acts of terrorism and a new, heighten hatred for the West that did not exist before at this raging intensity.

It was a terrible turn of events, all in the name of money in the form of oil, birthed by the Bush Administration.

Obama Heckled By Gays In California

Video: 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell' Interruption

U.S. President Barack Obama was visibly shaken and upset at being heckled by a group of gay activists, due to his Justice Department and Attorney General, Eric Holder, reneging on a promise to lift the ban on gays openly serving in the U.S. military.

It has been a long standing rule in the armed forces, not to have openly gay individuals serving, as according to experts, it causes rifts in military cohesion. This long held practice has been firmly in place for many years, until rich gay Hollywood campaign donors pulled Obama's strings, in a bid to get the "Don't Ask Don't Tell" ban lifted, much to the fury of the U.S. military.

President Obama and his cabinet need to think long and hard before they undertake any decisions that weaken the U.S. Military. The Judiciary Report is not trying to hurt gay people's feelings, but at a time when crisis after crisis has erupted regarding America, the Iranian government and separately, terrorists groups targeting the United States, throwing the nation's military into disarray and disunity is not a good idea.

Iran Defiant In Face Of Sanctions

Video: Sanctions will not stop Iran from going nuclear

The government of Iran is being defiant in the face of international sanctions, regarding its illegal nuclear program, many worry is a ruse to develop weapons of mass destruction. The Iranian nuclear program is developing unimpeded at a rapid rate.

    Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad

The President of Iran, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, has made many disturbing proclamations, regarding wiping Israel and America off the map, using nuclear weaponry.

    U.S. President Barack Obama

As a result, many nations do not want Iran to pursue nuclear ambitions, concerned about what it will become on the national stage. Added to these concerns is Ahmadinejad's Muslim extremist views. Soldiers Laugh At Death Of Iraqi Civilians

A disturbing video has leaked to the press showing U.S. soldiers in Iraq, laughing while shooting at civilians, as they kill them from a helicopter using military weaponry. A soldier is heard saying, "Light em all up. Come on, fire!"

A second soldier is heard responding, "Ha, ha, I hit'em." While a third soldier states in response to the murdered civilians, "Look at those dead basta*ds."

    President Obama

Further proof the war needs to end. President Obama cannot justify what is happening in Iraq, by seeking to continue what former President Bush started, as the conflict and bloodshed, especially where civilians are concerned, is terrible.

'Ha ha, I hit 'em': Top secret video showing U.S. helicopter pilots gunning down 12 civilians in Baghdad attack leaked online

Last updated at 9:19 AM on 07th April 2010 - A secret video leaked on to the internet shows American soldiers laughing as a helicopter strike kills around a dozen civilians in Baghdad.

In the 17-minute black-and-white footage from an Apache helicopter gunsight, the crew can be heard discussing the carnage as if they were playing a video war game.

Before one attack on a group of men, a voice is also heard saying: 'Light em all up. Come on, fire!' One soldier can even be heard shouting: 'Ha, ha, I hit 'em.' Another says: 'Look at those dead b******s.'
