The Mo'Nique Show Is Cancelled

BET's "The Mo'Nique Show" carried on the BET network, has been cancelled, according to reports in the Atlanta Journal and Constitution. The show ran for two years, hosted by Academy Award winning actress and comedienne, Mo'Nique Hicks. The cancellation came as a surprise to many, as people had positioned Hicks to be the new Oprah Winfrey. BET did not cite reasons for placing it on a "indefinite hiatus" but poor ratings are usually the reason for such a move.

The sisters of singer, Toni Braxton, have been fighting again on the family's reality show "Braxton Family Values." Tamar and Traci got into a very acrimonious argument, where the former belittled the latter, which ended in tears for both.

Braxton is also considering leaving Atlanta, to move to Los Angeles, where she lived in the early nineties. I don't think it is the best idea, due to the heavy drug and alcohol problem prevalent in Hollywood, the entertainment industry, which has damaged many celebrities' children. However, it is Braxton's life and she can do as she pleases.

Jermaine Dupri Sued By Stripper For Child Support Payments

Jermaine Dupri and Janet Jackson broke up over him impregnating stripper Sarai Jones. Shortly after, Dupri's financial woes began, indicating he was living off Jackson.
This is a follow up to the Saturday, May 7, 2011 article Jermaine Dupri's Financial Woes Continue With Foreclosure On His Mansion. On Monday, May 9, 2011, Cash strapped producer turned DJ, Jermaine Dupri, was sued by stripper Sarai Jones, mentioned in the aforementioned Judiciary Report article.

Jones contends in court, though Judge Margaret Dorsey, ordered him to pay her $10,000 per month in child support payments, he has not given her a single dime. That was one expensive dalliance with a stripper. Men should know better.

Dupri already has a young daughter with another woman that he is making child support payments on. Seeing as though Dupri is a grown man in his late thirties that refuses to give up his lavish spending and wild partying, financial destruction was bound to occur.

What Dupri and others like him, who are keeping up appearances, need to do is sell his jewelry, cars and flashy clothes and make good on his financial obligations. Selling his home and buying a smaller one would be appropriate as well. If he is not careful, his creditors are going to force him into bankruptcy to get their money.

18-year-old Brown was arrested in Atlanta, Georgia, on underage drinking, fighting and gun possession charges. She grew up in a household with two drug addicted parents, Houston and singer Bobby Brown. Now it seems the reverse has happened, in the daughter's problems having an impact on her mother. Here's hoping they both get well soon.

Atlanta Braves Coach Threatened With Lawsuit Over Alleged Gay Slur

Atlanta Braves coach, Roger McDowell, is being threatened with a lawsuit for telling three men at a San Francisco ball park, "Are you a homo couple or a threesome." McDowell also went on to say "Are you three giving it to each other in the ***" while using as baseball bat to illustrate. When one of the gay men confronted McDowell, he allegedly stated, "How much are your teeth worth."
What's puzzling is gay bloggers such as Perez Hilton and Michael of Dlisted, routinely use the word "homo" which is short for homosexual. On the television show "The Golden Girls" which is constantly lauded by gays, the word "homo" is used, when describing Blanche's brother Clayton. The character Rose, said to roommate Dorothy, "Clayton is a homo" upon discovering he is gay.
The word "queer" was also used on the show. The "Golden Girls" had a gay sitcom writer as well, Marc Cherry, who went on to hit actress Nicollette Sheridan in the head for verbally disagreeing with an item in his script for the show "Desperate Housewives." The assault resulted in a lawsuit .
My point, how are straight people supposed to know what is offensive speech to gays, when homosexuals are using the exact same language and asking heterosexuals the same kind of questions. If it proves true, McDowell's alleged statement, "How much are your teeth worth" can be construed as a threat of potential violence and the claim he used a bat to simulate gay sex can be deemed sexually lewd. However, calling a man "homo" when homosexuals and others they champion use the same term in referencing them, seems like a double standard from gay people.
In Hollywood and the blogosphere, many gay people have used very crude terms to refer to the sex lives of heterosexuals, even asking straight people very lewd and deeply personal sexual questions. Gays have even fondled straight women in public settings. None of this conduct is appropriate, but has clearly led straight people to believe they can speak to gays in the same manner they have addressed them. Some guidelines need to be set to avoid offense in the future, taking into account the First Amendment, of course.

Woman Beaten By Police In Restaurant In Front Of Customers

Ashley Leavell was seated in a IHop restaurant in Atlanta, Georgia, when she was confronted by local police, who demanded she and her three friends leave the eatery. Leavell and her friends said they were told by a man, who they did not know was a police officer, as he did not identify himself, "Shut up, be quiet, you need to leave." The officer, who was not wearing a policeman's cap, began to drag one of the women out of her seat.

This is when Leavell intervened, attempting to hold her friend in the chair. The police officer is seen on video slapping Leavell across the face. She responds by hitting him back. His fellow officer then struck petite Leavell as well, with the two punching her in the face, as though she is a massive man attacking them. The video was uploaded to YouTube, prompting public cries of police brutality and excessive force. The women have retained an Atlanta attorney to sue the police and understandably so.

Lady Gaga's latest fall

Sacrilegious, cocaine promoting, pop singer, Lady Gaga, has fallen on stage again for the umpteenth time. I've lost count, but her latest tumble occurred in Atlanta, Georgia. She can't possibly think this is acceptable. A fall once in a while is permissible, but this behavior is chronic (she's probably smoking that too).

Bobby Brown, the ex-husband of fellow singer, Whitney Houston, stated in an interview in the current edition of Sister2Sister magazine that he "Made $30,000,000 in one year" and blew through it "in that same year." Brown further stated he was making $250,000 per night on tour.
His wealthy ex-wife Houston, reportedly made in the ball park of $300,000,000 during her career, but lost much of it as well, due to cocaine and lavish living. The family's Atlanta home Houston bought was foreclosed on a few years ago. However, both artists have signed new deals in the entertainment industry.

The VH-1 reality show, What Chilli Wants, has descended into debauchery and frivolity. In the TLC's singer's search for Mr. Right, she has shown herself to be very superficial and vain.
Rather than looking for a good human being, first and foremost, she demands that the man be handsome, have great abs, be well endowed (penis size) and of a certain financial status. Chilli is not perfect, but expects her Mr. Right to be.
Chilli spoke of her belief in God, but she needs to look deeper into the Lord's ways, which value a good heart, compassion, kindness and good deeds, more than external factors in what a person looks like. The Bible says God looks at what is in a person's heart, while people look at the outward appearance, meaning what an individual looks like.

Can The Older Woman Younger Man Coupling Work

In light of the recent break-up between singer Usher, 30 and his wife Tameka Raymond, 38, does the older woman younger man pairing really last.

In some cases it has, but in many it has not. You often see older men and younger women in relationships, as women are more sensitive than men and will look pass age. However, there are many men that are age conscious when it comes to these things and do not date older women.



Can generational differences destroy a relationship. When one person looks older than the other, does society put undue pressure on them, causing internal tensions.

Does it cause the older member of the relationship to be self-conscious. Does it cause the older member of the relationship to become insecure, due to younger people that could pose temptation for their partners. Does age matter in a relationship.

Clearly, some care about age and some don't, but it is on a case by case basis. Some generalizations do not fit.
